Gathering Parts
This document is designed as a guide in gathering parts to assemble your own AR-15. It is meant as a guide only. I make no attempt to keep the prices listed current, but they will be useful as guidelines. You can pretty much count on the fact that the prices you will find will be slightly higher. These guidelines represent my personal opinions after many years firing, testing and building weapons.

Pick one item from each group, add up the prices and you will have an approximate cost of building the rifle.

Each recommendation has a number associated with it. This number represents my preference in each category. The cases where several mfgrs. have the same number, indicates that I have no real preference and any one of them should be fine. The closer you stay to the number 1 recommendation in each category, the better rifle you will have. Generally speaking, the further down the list you go, the cheaper the parts; Bear in mind the tradeoff between cost and quality.
Also, note that the list is organized in overall order of importance. If you are going to spend more money on some of the items, spend it in the upper portion of the list, these parts are more important.
